Michael Greenberg

OF COUNSEL

Known as an attorney with an astute, compassionate, and patient approach, Michael J. Greenberg treats all clients and their wishes with uncompromising respect.  Before starting his own law firm, Michael spent nearly a decade working at several prestigious law firms.

Michael entered Estate Planning and Elder Law after his father was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s Disease.  He has first-hand experience with many of the issues his clients face each day and is known as being incredibly patient with elderly or nervous clients.

Estate Planning and Elder Law is rarely a straightforward process for those with assets to protect and legacies to pass on; the challenges may at first seem unusual and problematic.  Michael encounters these cases often and successfully guides individuals and families through the planning process.

As Michael’s practice has evolved, he spends more time handling the more complex aspects of estate planning, such as business succession, sophisticated trust instruments, generation-skipping transfer tax planning, and fiduciary services.

Michael is admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Florida. Michael has been named a Rising Star in Estate Planning and Probate in the Metro Edition of the New York Super Lawyers each year since 2017.

Outside the Practice

Michael serves as the Chair of the Legal Committee of the New York City Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. In this position, he leads a group of attorneys in providing free programming and lectures to the public on legal and long-term care planning for those afflicted with the disease and their loved ones. Michael serves on the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association Trusts & Estates Law Section, and the Elder Law and Special Needs Section.

Finally, Michael serves as a Second Lieutenant/Judge Advocate in the New York Guard where he advises current and former military personnel on and drafts legal documents, including Wills, health care proxies, living wills, and powers of attorney. He also speaks to adult education and community groups on protecting assets, preserving legacies, and other aspects of estate planning.

In his free time, Michael enjoys spending time with his family, and his hobbies include tennis, indoor cycling, and yoga.

Michael graduated from Williams College and earned his law degree from Emory University.
